Doing More for Your Community

Our commitment to “Do More” for the communities we serve permeates our company from the top down. Community involvement decisions are made on a local level because our more than 3,700 employees in Texas and Oklahoma are personally vested in the communities in which we live. IBC employees are encouraged to actively participate in civic and charitable organizations supporting the arts, education, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, medical research and other philanthropic endeavors.

Our Employee Advisory Boards (EAB), established in 1985, have evolved to become IBC’s charitable arm. Each IBC market has its own EAB with its own officers -- and every IBC employee becomes a member upon hiring. Over the years, employees have dedicated tens of thousands of volunteer hours to various charities. In fact, last year alone, that number exceeded 31,000 hours. IBC is grateful for the opportunity to give back monetarily, as well, with corporate giving totals exceeding $1,765,000 last year. These monies often provide the means for many charitable organizations in our markets to exist; without IBC support, many would be forced to diminish services or altogether close their doors.

IBC believes in cultivating our employees into leaders and influential members of their communities. IBC gives its employees the opportunity to take on leadership roles in their cities. Many of our IBC officers serve on the boards of local chapters of nonprofits like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts, among others. IBC employees can be found answering phones for March of Dimes telethons, organizing fundraising campaigns for United Way, making individual contributions to scholarships like the Dennis Nixon Scholarship Fund, building floats for local parades and festivals, participating in walkathons, selling Shamrocks for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and more.
