IBC Bank, H-E-B Collect More Than 13 Tons of Goods for the Troops
(July 27, 2010) EAGLE PASS, Texas - IBC Bank, in partnership with H-E-B, collected more than 13 tons of supplies along with letters of support and gratitude through Operation Care Drop, a donation drive for our nation’s servicemen and women. The drive, which concluded on July 4 and had the support of more than 225 IBC Bank branches and more than 65 H-E-B locations across Texas, collected donations that will reach more than 40,000 of our nation’s military personnel.
“As a community-focused bank, we live by our philosophy of ‘doing more.’ By sending a piece of home to our men and women overseas, we remind them of our support and that their courage and service to our country is not going unnoticed,” IBC Chairman and CEO Dennis E. Nixon said. “This initiative would not be successful without the support of the community as well as the efforts of our partner H-E-B. We are confident this program will continue to become stronger and reach more of our nation’s troops each year.”
A total of nine branches in the Eagle Pass area served as drop-off stations for care package supplies including snacks, travel-size supplies, playing cards and toiletries. The bank and H-E-B are currently working with Operation Interdependence® (OI®), the premier Civilian-to-Military Delivery System® in the U.S., to pack and ship the care packages which contain these small comforts from home, and most importantly, a personal letter of gratitude and thanks. This marks the third year IBC and H-E-B have worked with OI® to help give back to those men and women serving overseas in defense of this country.
“We pride ourselves on being a strong community partner, and make it a priority to give back to those who live in Texas. Coming together with IBC and Operation Interdependence, we are able to show our support and gratitude to those serving overseas to defend our freedoms. We thank the community for its support of this program” said Winell Herron, Group Vice-President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs, H-E-B.
