IBC Bank hosted a luncheon Feb. 1 at its downtown San Antonio branch to introduce Michael Oren, Israeli ambassador to the U.S., to key Texas Hispanic business leaders. The meeting was coordinated by IBC Bank Senior Vice President Eddie Aldrete and Israeli Consul General Meir Shlomo to engage local leaders in a dialogue on the importance of a strong relationship between the U.S. and Israel. While the majority of attendees were from San Antonio, others traveled from Laredo, Austin, Houston, Ft. Worth and the Rio Grande Valley to take part.
Oren has been in his post since July 2009. In his role, he regularly meets with White House, State Department, and Pentagon officials, and briefs Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders on issues vital to the U.S.-Israel alliance. Oren was born in the U.S. and educated at Princeton and Columbia. During his visit to San Antonio, Oren also met with Mayor Julian Castro.
