IBC Bank Names Bill Schonacher President & CEO of Bank's Oklahoma Market

(June 3, 2014) Tulsa, OK - International Bank of Commerce (IBC Bank) today named Bill Schonacher to lead its Oklahoma operations as president and CEO. Schonacher has 22 years of experience in the banking industry and has been with IBC Bank for nearly half that time. He becomes only the second CEO for IBC Bank’s Oklahoma market since International Bancshares Corporation (IBOC) acquired Local Oklahoma Bank, headquartered in Oklahoma City, 10 years ago. In his new position, Schonacher assumes the CEO leadership role, which includes managing the day-to-day operation of the commercial lending department and overseeing the retail branch network of 52 locations, which serves 31 cities in 24 counties across Oklahoma including branches in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Lawton and Duncan. Schonacher will also retain his position on the advisory board of the Oklahoma operations of IBC Bank.

Other Oklahoma advisory board members include: Dennis Nixon; Andy Coats, Dr. Gilbert “Gib” Gibson and former Oklahoma Governor George Nigh.

“IBC Bank has played an integral role in the economic development of Oklahoma. With the state’s growth in oil and gas exploration, construction, manufacturing, and business services, Bill Schonacher’s expertise and vision will deepen IBC Bank’s strong market presence,” Nigh said. “Bill is one of IBC Bank’s most seasoned leaders with a strong background in commercial lending and business services.”

“Bill will certainly continue the market’s legacy of customer service excellence. You can see from his personal involvement in community service that he exemplifies the ‘We Do More’ attitude,” IBC Bank Chairman and CEO Dennis Nixon said. “Further, IBC Bank views Oklahoma as a strong growth market with great opportunities for development and expansion.”

Third-generation Tulsan Andy Levinson replaces Schonacher as Tulsa region president. Previously senior vice president of commercial lending in Tulsa, Levinson has been in the banking industry for 12 years, the last nine with IBC Bank.

Community outreach is an IBC strength, which Schonacher embraces by volunteering his time as the immediate past president of the Tulsa Ballet, two-time past president of the Jenks Public Schools Education Foundation, three-time vice chair of the Tulsa Metro Chamber Resource Campaign, and an advisory director of the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce.

IBC Bank has a long record of service to the community, education, health care, and financial literacy. Most notably, in Oklahoma, IBC Bank supports United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Tulsa Boys Home, Junior Achievement, the Junior League of Tulsa, the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, and the American Heart Association.

Schonacher will continue to play an integral role in these community outreach efforts, as well as the bank’s marketing and employee development initiatives.

Schonacher earned a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Kansas. He and his wife, Lynne, have been married 25 years and have three adult sons and one daughter.

Levinson, a past board member of the Tulsa Mental Health Association and vice chairman of the Tulsa Boys Home, earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Tulsa. His wife, Marti, owns Marti Levinson Dentistry.

“Andy’s promotion is well-deserved,” said Schonacher. “His heart is clearly in Tulsa and it’s great to have someone with his leadership qualifications and deep ties to the community ready to step in.”

IBC Bank is a subsidiary of International Bancshares Corporation (NASDAQ: IBOC), a $12.1 billion multi-bank financial holding company headquartered in Laredo, Texas, with over 210 facilities and more than 320 ATMs serving 88 communities in Oklahoma and Texas.
