(Dec. 7, 2012) San Antonio, Texas - IBC Bank-San Antonio presented a check for $10,000 to the St. PJ’s Children’s Home today through IBC Bank’s annual “It’s a Brighter Christmas” program. IBC Bank employees raised $5,000 for St. PJ’s and the bank matched their donations dollar for dollar. St. Peter-St.Jospeh’s Children’s Home is a nonprofit organization in San Antonio that serves the needs of children and families by providing a safe, nurturing community to heal body, mind and spirit, shape successful adults, and break cycles of abuse and neglect. “While our dedication to the communities we serve lasts all year, the holiday season gives us a special opportunity to reach out and make a difference in the lives of those in need,” IBC Bank-San Antonio President and CEO Mike Sohn said. “It’s a Brighter Christmas gives IBC Bank the opportunity to partner with organizations that share our commitment to community service.”
Since 1986, IBC Bank has brought the spirit of the season to the communities it serves through its employee-driven It’s a Brighter Christmas program. An extension of the bank’s “We Do More” philosophy, the company began this corporate-wide initiative as a way to help deserving families and children enjoy the holidays.
“We could not be successful without the support of caring corporate community sponsors such as IBC Bank. Today’s donation provides the truly invaluable gift of helping children overcome an often abusive past and look forward to a bright and hope-filled future,” St. PJ’s Children’s Home CEO James Castro said.
While the spirit and purpose of It’s a Brighter Christmas is the same corporate-wide, IBC Bank tailors its outreach to meet the most pressing needs of the local area through its Employee Advisory Board (EAB). This unique organization, which exists in every IBC Bank market throughout Texas and Oklahoma, encourages the bank’s more than 3,000 employees and officers to engage in community service and civic involvement. The EAB is currently celebrating its 27th anniversary.
