IBC Bank-San Antonio presents "San Antonio Conversations" featuring Sen. Marco Rubio

(From L to R) – IBC Bank Chairman and CEO Dennis Nixon, Sen. Marco Rubio, and IBC Bank Senior Vice President Eddie Aldrete gather at “San Antonio Conversations” presented by IBC Bank at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk Hotel on April 15.

(April 15, 2014) San Antonio, Texas- IBC Bank-San Antonio is proud to present “San Antonio Conversations” featuring Sen. Marco Rubio on April 15 at 12 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk Hotel. Rubio served as an honorary guest in IBC Bank’s conversation series led by Texas Tribune Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith.

Since he arrived in the U.S. Senate, Rubio has challenged the notion that freshman lawmakers should be seen and not heard. He wasted no time diving into the nation’s major policy debates and taking leadership roles in immigration, healthcare and peace in the Middle East. Rubio addressed a crowd of approximately 200 people during the program. He shared his stance on issues that were significant to San Antonio business leaders such as immigration mechanisms, advanced education opportunities, entrepreneurship and free enterprise.

“We need to stop litigating the issues of yesterday and today and start focusing on issues of interest for tomorrow, especially concerning the future of our economy,” Sen. Marco Rubio said. “What our country is currently experiencing is a case for trying something different. It’s our chance to rethink and implement avenues of advanced education, opportunity for all and free enterprise.”

This event was the second installment in IBC Bank’s local conversation series. The first, which featured Rep. Paul Ryan, sold out to a crowd of approximately 400 people including civic leaders, business executives and owners, and special guests including Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, County Judge Nelson Wolff and former San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger.

“We are honored to give our city leaders the opportunity to hear from Sen. Rubio on issues that most immediately affect their day to day business endeavors,” IBC Senior Vice President Eddie Aldrete said. He is one of eight U.S. senators and three members of Congress that IBC Bank has brought to enlighten local leaders through our chamber San Antonio Conversations series.”
