RAMOS APPOINTED TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LAREDO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Tuesday, June 26, 2018
(JUNE 26, 2018) LAREDO, TEXAS - IBC Bank is proud to announce the appointment of bank auditor David Ramos to the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity of Laredo-Webb County. His duties as a board member include promoting the mission of eliminating substandard housing by building simple, decent and affordable houses for hardworking, low-income families in Laredo and Webb County.
“To accomplish that mission as a board member, my responsibility is to assist in reviewing applications and approve the family selections,” said Ramos, who has volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity for more than 10 years. “In addition, my tasks include contributing ideas that result in solid decisions on funds and expenditures for the organization.”
Ramos also volunteers his time with Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association and Kiwanis Club of Laredo and is a liaison to the International Bank of Commerce Charitable & Community Development Corporation.
At IBC Bank, Ramos works as an assistant auditor and bank officer where he manages staff during the audit process, which includes comprehensive reviews of audit paperwork and providing assistance with plans for the implementation of audit processes based on new banking regulations.
“Financial empowerment is at the heart of IBC Bank’s mission as a community bank, and it means a lot to have my employer’s full support to be an active member in an organization such as this,” Ramos said. “I joined Habitat for Humanity because of the impact it has on families, and it makes my day to see how this group lifts their morale and shows them that someone actually cares about them.”
Ramos decided to become a volunteer because Habitat for Humanity teaches hard-working people how to become homeowners with zero-percent interest on their mortgage. The caveat is that homeowners have to put 500 hours of sweat equity into building their new home or someone else’s Habitat home.
“I am proud to see David serve on the Habitat for Humanity board of directors not only because it’s an organization IBC Bank believes in, but also because I know David will be an outstanding member with his strong leadership skills,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Internal Audit Services Ramiro Herrera.
